Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror

F.W. Murnau (1922)

On May 7 Yiddishkayt hosted the debut of LAYKA Lens Series, our new socially-distant film club, in partnership with our friends at the Los Angeles Review of Books (LARB).

We kicked it off with the classic 1922 silent vampire film (and loose Dracula adaptation) Nosferatu, directed by F.W. Murnau.

We discussed this spooky German expressionist film, as well as notions of contagion and identity, with:

  • J. Hoberman, New York Times film critic & author

  • Boris Dralyuk, Executive Editor, Los Angeles Review of Books

  • Rob Adler Peckerar, Executive Director, Yiddishkayt.

Watch the conversation here and read J. Hoberman’s article reflecting on the film.
